Bows for weddings

One of my scrapbooking friend, who is also my sec sch junior, requested me to make some bows for her bridesmaids. Her ROM theme is white and turquoise/blue so she hopes I can make the bows in the same color.

I managed to source for the color ribbon and made these.

My ex-colleague saw this on my Facebook album and asked me to make for her. This is what I did.

Very 'Tiffany' looking right? Haha! :)

Camera pouch - Candid Strawberry

My dear scrapbooking friend, Yanni asked me to make a camera pouch for her Fujifilm Instax Mini25.

This strawberry fabric is one of my favourite! This pouch is padded and I added a tab at the side for her to hook up a strap or dangling Hello Kitty or bells etc. Hope she likes it!

I like this and might make one for myself when my Instax Mini25 arrives from Japan. Yes!!! After seeing her camera, I was tempted and went online to buy one too!

The Lunch Bag

This is a lunch bag that I made, very Japanese inspired. I called it "The Lunch Bag" because it is perfect for bringing it out for lunch!

Though it is not big, it can fit in my wallet, coin pouch, handphone, tissue paper and keys. It is made of cotton linen, with reversible pink polka dots fabric.

I brought it out just now to the supermarket to buy groceries and my lunch. I really like it! I just might make more to sell, in different fabrics!

Reversible bag with American fabrics

I spent the day in my sewing room yesterday making this reversible bag.

This side is made with the Alexander Henry fabric.

And this side is made with the polka dots fabric by Michael Miller.

I love this bag and start to use it today! It is quite roomy and doesn't go out of shape much. My friends are impressed and want me to make one for them! I will make them with other fabrics but haven't decided which one yet. Watch out for it!

Tutu for sale

I got my cousin Chloe to pose for me in the tutu. She wore it immediately and danced and walked around in it! The tutu is for her so I didn't get it off her even when I left.

Side view.

Back view.

It is made of soft tulle in 3 colors with elastic band. I am taking custom orders and selling it at S$38 each.

I want to thank Wee for ordering one all the way from Switzerland! Hope her daughter will love it!

Tutu skirt

This is a custom order for a little princess. Made of soft tulle in beige, peach and pink. So pretty!

Here's a closer look. The red ribbon is made of satin. The waistband is elastic.

I am selling it at $38. Such soft tulle is not cheap and I was lucky to find these nice colors. I like it very much, even hubby said it is nice and doesn't look handmade.

Contact me for a custom order if you are interested!

Sew much fun

My friend, Jin took leave today and came to my house to do sewing together. So happy to have a like-minded friend to exchange ideas and techniques.

She got me to try sewing a zip and I made a pouch today!

I made a scrapbooking bag the other day. Papermarket is reopening at Raffles City tomorrow at a new location, B1-27. Perfect to bring it along for shopping!

The small flower fabric inside is one of my favourite. :)

My friend Estelle has been pestering me to make something for her. She said she wants a sunglass pouch so this is for her.

As I am experimenting with different designs and have limited fabric of the same pattern, I will not be making many of them for sale at the moment. But I have been receiving some requests for custom orders and I thank you for your interest! You can email to me at ohsinchan@gmail.com to discuss further.

More sewing

I have not been blogging!!! My Mac died on me again and had to be sent for repair. This time it's the motherboard problem and a new part was replaced.

Busy searching for jobs, going for interviews at agencies and some companies. Not much luck yet. Sigh!

Meanwhile I have been sewing!

This is a Japanese inspired bag. I love this light pink polka dots cotton linen. Got the lace from Japan last year.

A pocket tissue holder for my mum.

A hair scrungie.

Thanks for the response for the hair bows. Some of them are sold out already. I have limited fabrics for some of them so I can't make more. Do let me know if you are interested!

Take a Bow

I made some bow hairband for my sister and cousin last week.

My cousin with her bow clip.

My sister has a fetish for flowers and pink color.

I have some spare fabrics and made more bows!

I am selling the bow at S$3 each, inclusive of local postage. You can choose either a hairband, clip or pin (as a brooch) to go with it. Hope to earn some money to buy more fabrics and materials. Please support my sewing hobby! :)

A big Thank You to Mr Yang for being my 1st customer! I am sure his girlfriend will like it!

Long lost cross-stitch

I have a spare room which contains all my old stuffs. Stuffs brought over from my mum's place, stuffs I had accumulated since my childhood and youth. It is very difficult for me to throw away things so they just lay in that room and collect dust.

I tried to tidy part of that room today and came across my cross-stitch! I am sure some crafters are like me who picked up cross-stitch previously. I did so many Precious Moments, Pooh Bear and Mickey Mouse cross-stitch and specially did some for my ex-colleagues and friends. Those were the days!

I spent quite long to finish this one, "Our Friendship is Soda-licious". The figurine is already retired.

This is one of my favourite, "Love One Another".

There are others, some are left uncompleted. Now that I found them, what should I do with them???

Clasp coin purses

I did these 2 coin purses last week and finally took some pics of them today.

This is a small one with brown polka dots fabric. The clasp, lace and tag are all from Daiso.

Inside is a sweet floral fabric.

Did another one with a fatter bottom.

I am a person who likes variety. Usually I will not repeat the same thing that I made. So it will be different types of fabric, design or color. I made so many coin purses recently because I want to give one to my friend and let her choose. But she likes all of them and wants me to make a cosmetic bag and spectacle bag for her! Faint!!! But I am happy that there are people who like what I have made! :)

Reversible tote bag

This floral fabric was bought from KL and I made this small tote bag for Rae-lin.

She loves Hello Kitty and pink color. When we were in KL, she made this comment to me: "My daddy ask me to ask you to give me your Hello Kitty things when we go to your house, ok?" I was very surprised and thought she said this herself until I went to ask her daddy. But it was really her daddy who taught her to say this!

Bought the small coin purse for her too. I put a Hello Kitty tag on the inside pocket.

This tote bag is reversible so she can turn it over and show the Hello Kitty side if she wants. Hope she likes it!

Small purses

Made 2 small purses last night and today. I followed the instructions on a chinese book and it was not easy! I am not good at understanding traditional chinese and reading those technical words are really difficult for me!

Tried out 2 different instructions and here are the results.

I like the blue color fabric, looks like Laura Ashley!

The spring frame is a metal piece that is flexible. But you need a bit of strength to open it. This is how you open the purse.

The spring frame is from Daiso and from my daily/weekly visit to Daiso, it is still available at PS, IMM, Sembawang and Bt Panjang. I have been bumping into friends and ex-colleagues at Daiso. I am visiting Daiso waaaayyyy too often!!

Bean sprout kernel pillow

My nephew Ethan has a hand-me-down bean sprout kernel pillow. Such pillow is put on his body with the weight of the bean sprout kernels lying on both sides of his body. It is supposed to give babies a sense of security so as not to be frightened by sudden movements. My hubby made a new pillow case for him using the existing bean sprout kernels from the old pillow but this time, I made one from scratch.

These are the bean sprout kernels that made me very very busy for several days. I painstakingly handpicked them myself and dried them!

The sewing is much easier. Chose a baby blue for the pillow and a Riley Blake designer fabric for the pillow case. Both fabrics are 100% cotton.

The baby boy should be arriving at the end of this month. Can't wait to see him! :)

My 1st handmade bag

Yesterday I received my prize from The Scrapbooking Carton from the postman.

I already have a heart edge punch but this one is different. See the difference?

This is half my collection of Martha Stewart punches. The rest are in the drawer behind it. I can't get enough of them! :p

For the past few days, I have been busy making a bag. This is the bag before I put the seams and straps.

I add a pocket inside. I sew all the edges, no frills!

I searched through People's Park and Spotlight before I found the strap and color I want. Sewing the seams is the most difficult part of this bag but once I got the hang of it, I did it!

I just started sewing so I am still very amateur. I tried hard, learning from hubby, reading from books and looking at bags. Now I understand why I spent so much money on my designer bags... I can feel the efforts in making those bags!

Seriously, I think the amount of money I have been spending on this sewing hobby can buy a new LV bag already! But I am enjoying this hobby at the moment!

A pouch

I spent a day making this. Got a sewing pattern book from Daiso awhile ago and thanks to my Japanese colleague for translating the instructions to English!

It was supposed to be a bag-in-bag, a type of organizer for a bag. But I decide to make it into a pouch at the last minute.

I don't know how to sew a zip though. Mum studied my work and it was hubby who put a zip on it! He is really awesome! There are 3 compartments inside to put small things and 2 compartments outside.

My sister said I should make one for her to put diapers. Let's see if I have the energy to make one. For an amateur like me, it takes too much efforts!

Wrist rest

My hubby can handle the sewing machine much better than me. My mum asked him to make a long pillow for Ethan, to put it over his stomach. The current one he has is too short, he needs a longer one.

After clearing Ms Macy away on the temporary operation table, we turned it into a sewing area. Hubby started to work. He laid out the fabric and took measurement.

Brought out the sewing machine and he sewn this. Waiting for my mum to fill it up.

Hubby said I should practise more so today I attempted the sewing machine myself. I made a wrist rest!

It is filled with rice (expensive Japanese short grain rice!) and lavender seeds . It smells nice!

Felt key house

Another colleague was bitten by the sewing bug. Did not imagine that Kanni will sew but she did!

She got this pack from Daiso and all the materials are included, including the needle, thread, felt and beads. Only the button is her own.

Pretty right???? :)

Sew nice

Thank you for your comments about the baby monologue I made for my sister!

I did not knit the socks, they are from Jolee's Boutique. They are cute, aren't they?

Recently my friend, Jin, has been busy sewing. Look at this! A quilted coaster! The cloth are from her grandma's old clothes!

Then she made this pouch.

These are her trials before she embarks on a full quilt! I can't wait to see it!

She is trying to get me interested and join her but.... my heart is willing, my mind is not! :p
