Barnyard cake

I was engaged for a birthday shoot of a 1 yr old girl last Sat. Her mummy took much efforts to decorate the house and have a barnyard theme birthday party. The children came in animal costumes and matching headbands, so cute!

The parents requested me not to post the photos so I can't show you here. But I did get permission to show the cake! It's a very nice cake and I want to share it!

Isn't this a pretty sight? So many animals came to life!

I love this hen nesting on the roof of the barn!

This cake is also a musical cake! There is a switch below that will make the cake (4th tier) turn and play music!

This cake is from C for Cupcakes. It seems that she only has a Facebook site at the moment. I went to take a look and drool at all her beautiful creations! Very beautiful and detailed decorating works!

My Scrapbooking friends

With the help of my friend and her friends, I finally got an iPhone 4 yesterday! Thanks to hubby too, who recontract his Starhub line to get this iPhone 4. We spent the evening at Starhub to buy the phone and at M1 to get my MicroSIM card and change to an iPhone plan. Let's hope my sms bill will be reduced with this iPhone!

Before I went to get my phone, I went Papermarket and got to know some new friends! *waves* Yanni was impressed with the Reversible Bag that I was carrying and started promoting it! I am going (to try) to make a camera pouch for her Fujifilm Mini25. Give me a bit more time ya!

After that I went upstairs to Made With Love and saw 2 ladies chatting at the entrance. I walked into the shop but turned back to take a 2nd glance to see who they were. One of them waved at me and I realized it's Pooi and Geraldine! This is the 1st time I saw them in person! I have been following their blogs and scrapbooking creation, only 'seen' them on their blogs. They are very friendly and we chatted for awhile.

Great knowing u gals, my scrapbooking friends! :)

YOG - The Olympic Torch

I heard a lot of drumming this morning and thought it was some 7th month event. I didn't take notice of it at first and when I finally did, I was surprised to see this.

I 'complained' on Facebook and my friend told me it's for a YOG event. She stays opposite me and told me to take some pictures. Since I stay on very high floor, I decided to take out my 70-200mm lens to shoot. Yes, that white elephant which has been sitting comfortably in the dry box!

Just after I stuck out my lens between the window grilles, I was surprised to see this scene on my viewfinder! It's the Olympic Torch!

Many people crowded around the boys to take photos. I didn't know earlier, if not I would have joined them downstairs.

The boy carried the torch and ran around the running track.

More people!!!

They finally left and made their way to the Westspring Secondary School. (Pooi, I don't know if they went to Zhenghua Sec later?)

After I posted these pics on FB, my friends told me the Olympic Torch is making its way around Singapore islandwide. Geez.. I didn't know that! This mountain tortoise needs to catch up with the outside world!

Moon Eclipse

Did you catch the moon eclipse yesterday? It can be seen with the naked eye from 7pm to 10pm.

I was at Sentosa, at the south of Singapore. I started looking at the East from 7pm, trying to catch the sight of the moon. A friend called at about 7.30pm saying she saw the moon at Woodlands. Shucks! I couldn't see anything with the trees blocking!

But I did spot some constellations such as the Southern Cross and Scorpius at the beach. And finally the moon came into view at about 8pm.

My photo kaki helped to take this photo of the moon. Isn't it pretty?!

Thanks a lot!!!

Looking radiant

Changed the background of this blog and amended the title to "Shoot, Sew, Scrap." Replaced "Shop" with "Sew" as I have been putting up my sewing crafts on my blog. It doesn't mean that I have stopped shopping though!

Busy week ahead... just had facial today, most probably going for a haircut tomorrow and looking forward to my spa at Bintan on Wed! It's "Make yourself radiant" week! Haha!

I probably should go to bed early first if I want to look radiant. Good night!

Mastering chinese

I have been going to bed later and later and waking up late as well. No longer the early bird that catches the worm!!! I am shocked to see the clock showing 10am, 10.30am, 11am when I woek up!!!

Did some sewing but will post them up later. Went online to purchase some stuffs, can't wait for them to arrive! Who came up with the idea of online shopping? This is such a 'bad' idea!

Because of this newfound sewing hobby, I sign up on a chinese forum site recently. Yes, it is my 1st time to go on such forum site and I am re-learning Chinese! Though Chinese websites are easier to understand than Japanese websites, it is still tough for me. I am ashamed to say that I got a distinction in Chinese at 'O' Levels but I am really not good at it! This language was one of the reason why I did not want to enter junior college and chose to study at a polytechnic.

Hubby is working today and will be back soon to mug his exams. I will spend the day watching tv! Such idle life! Lol!

Poor little sparrow

I was waiting for the bus at Lakeside MRT station and witnessed this today.

I saw a little sparrow chasing a wasp or something. The wasp was fluttering, flying very slowly and haltingly. I was not sure if it was already hurt or was just teasing the sparrow. The sparrow kept going after it. They were flying in front of me on the road. Then a vehicle whizzed passed and I lost sight of the sparrow for a second. Then I saw something was left on the road, lifeless.

I was stunned. I looked at the Malay man beside me and he said, "It is dead." I could not believe it! We were the only 2 people at the bus stop who saw the whole incident. A few seconds earlier the sparrow was still alive, determined to get the wasp. Now it is gone.

I don't know why but I keep thinking of this poor bird.
Rest in peace, little sparrow.

A series of unfortunate events

Several things went wrong today.

Ms Macy is back! But found that they did not bring back my box and the power cable! So I had to wait for them to bring it back. Can only stare at Ms Macy but cannot do anything to her! When the technician called me in the evening, they said they couldn't find the cable. Hubby searched and found it at home!

But that is not the end. The wireless keyboard and mouse couldn't work! When the technician came with the box (late at night), he tested and found there was a problem with the bluetooth. I have to call in again tomorrow morn and wait for them to come back AGAIN.

What happened to the faulty hard disk? Apple initially did not want to release the faulty hard disk to me. I called up the hotline and talked to the customer service person, she let me have it for 30days out of goodwill. I will be charged $400 if I want to keep it. What?!! A 500GB hard disk couldn't cost so much!! I called up several times and finally she released it for me. Partly due to the delayed replacement of the harddisk due to backorder.

A BIG thank you to my neighbour Dr Wu! He managed to clone the hard disk and save all my files! I really thought I have to say bye bye to my files forever, if not for him!

Another unfortunate thing that happened today is our power supply. Someone came to install the fibre optics in our house on Sat but caused one of the lights to go faulty. This evening they came back to repair it but short circuit the whole electricity supply! Geez!! Sparks were flying out of the lights! Took quite awhile to fix that!

Let's hope all these unfortunate events will end and happier things will come! At least now I can stop using hubby's notebook and the tiny screen and use my own iMac! Yeah!

Wasabi Kit Kat

Do you like to eat Kit Kat?
I love Kit Kat! The wafer biscuit with chocolates, so delicious! I will choose those manufactured in UK. They are slightly more expensive but tastes better.

In Japan, there are many different flavours of Kit Kat, some for a limited time only. Some of the flavours are: strawberry, green tea, cherry blossom etc.

But never would I imagine this flavour -> wasabi!

I give this to my hubby! The moment he saw it, he asked, "Why green green color?" He then saw the photo and guessed it's wasabi! So smart!

It doesn't taste so bad. My colleagues tried and said it's alright. But I still think it is weird. Trust the Japanese to come up with such flavour!

Weekends!

So happy that the weekends are here again!

I work in Tuas and has to wake up before 6am to go to work. It is an agony to wake up sometimes, even though I have been working there for 9 years. I don't sleep in late on weekends but it is still a luxury to laze in bed for awhile till about 8am or 9am.

My sister is feeling very BIG and can't wait to pop! Will baby Ethan arrive this weekend or next???

OMG Daiso!

My friend, Jin, called me yesterday and told me she's at Daiso IMM. She wanted to find the button tool that I told her about. But there were limited stocks and she couldn't find the size she wanted. Today she's on leave and went to Daiso Sengkang. She called me again and told me excited that she found the buttons in all sizes!

I couldn't bear it and went to Daiso IMM with hubby after having our dinner at Clementi. He was amazed that I can ALWAYS buy something there. I went Daiso IMM last Mon and Daiso at Plaza Singapura last Fri and today I am there again! I know I am not the only one who loves Daiso when I saw a friend posting the same 'problem' on her wall!

When we were walking out of Daiso after paying for my purchases, hubby suddenly exclaimed loudly "OMG! Look at that!"

Pasted on the wall was a notice that says "Daiso 6th outlet, opening at Bt Panjang Plaza in Jun 2010".

Yippee! A new Daiso so near to home!

Qingming festival

清明时节雨纷纷,路上行人欲断魂。
借问酒家何处有?牧童遥指杏花村。

Tomorrow is the official day of Qingming Festival, also known as Ancestors Day or Tomb Sweeping Day. We went to pray to my dead grandpa today, since it is the weekends. It rained so heavily this morning and made me think of this chinese poem. My chinese is limited, I can only remember the 1st phrase and had to google for the rest of the poem! :p

Unfortunately Qingming Festival is not a public holiday in Singapore (unlike Hong Kong or Taiwan) so we have to go to work tomorrow. With the weather being rainy and cooling, I just want to curl up in bed!

A clean table

My table top resurfaced!

I am sure this is very common among scrapbookers... table being covered by so many things that you cannot see the table top. This happens very often on my table! But at least I don't scrap in the living room so my dining table is spared.

Finally tidy up my table today. But I am sure it won't be long before it is cluttered again! :p

Earth Hour 2010

Went out shopping the whole day! So tired! Had to ask hubby to come and fetch me and we bought a foldable table. Yes, I can have a crop party soon!

By the time we reached home, it's already 9.15pm, 15mins to the end of Earth Hour. Lighted the candles so that we can see in the dark. Hubby went to return the car to my parents so I was alone. So I brought out my camera and took pictures!

Hubby said I burnt carbon dioxide by lighting the candles, which is not good for Mother Earth. He said we are playing our part every day already, by using LED lights and energy efficient bulbs. I always try not to turn on too many lights to save electricity. But he likes the house to be brightly lit! *Faint

Dashing through the crowds

I paid someone a visit today... someone whom I do not wish to see. I delayed and delayed and finally went today.

I went to see the DENTIST!

I have a fear of the dentist since young. I am lucky to have straight teeth but I have weak gums. It does not help that I do not brush properly so every visit I will get some sort of 'lecture' and 'lesson' on how to brush my teeth. Today's visit was not very painful but I have to go back for a review 2 weeks later. I think I will delay that visit as usual!

After that I went to the IT Show to get some stuffs for my colleagues and friends. In the morning, I already received many sms from friends asking if I am going and asking me to recommend a camera.

I didn't manage to get my ink cartridges because they were all sold out again! These are what I helped my colleagues and friend to buy. Portable hard disk drives, optical mouse, card reader, SD card, USB vacuum cleaner and laptop cover.

I feel like a busy Santa, dashing through the crowds today!

11 March 2010

IT Show 2010

Went to IT Show just now. I want to get some ink cartridge for my Epson printer and help my sister to get a portable hard disk. The price of hard disk keeps dropping, it is so cheap now!

But I didn't get my ink cartridge. Because it is all SOLD OUT! Unbelievable! Either it is very popular or they did not plan well to stock up enough. They said they will replenish it tomorrow.

So I have to go down again this weekend to get them. Will just dash through the crowds, grab what I want and get out fast! It's so crowded just now, it will be even worse on weekends!

Hubby is departing for his dive trip tomorrow night to Malaysia. He is very excited, going to take his advanced open water diving course.

I am freeeeee this weekend!

17 February 2010

Back to work tomorrow

Our company will be opened tomorrow, a day later than most companies. When will we have a long holiday again? Next year???

After so many days of waking up late, I am not sure if I can wake up on time for work tomorrow morning!

I better have a early night today. Good night!

No keys

I forgot to bring my keys AGAIN! This is the 3rd time I forgot and hubby was not with me. He was on the way to his class but had to come back to open the door for me. Yes he skipped class!

I stood outside my door and got connected to the wifi. Got on Facebook and download some podcast before going to the park downstairs to wait for him.

Saw Channelnewsasia online that the GCE results are out today. Surprise! This year's top student is from CHIJ! My alma mater also produces many A1 students this year! Well done!
