I have been to Tokyo many times, for work or leisure. Just went with hubby last Oct and we really wish to go back again. But he has studies and exams and we have no budget for a Japan trip. So we satisfied ourselves with Japanese food in Singapore!
Tampopo is one of our favourite restaurant. Whenever I am there, I will eat the chirashi don.
Hubby ordered the chirashi with 11 types. See the difference? The price is also VERY different!
We love otoro, the premium part of the tuna belly. It is very expensive but oh!!!! When you put it into your mouth, the taste is simply unexplainable!
We also ordered a sushi platter.
Umi, the sea urchin is also one of my favourite. It is an acquired taste and even some of my Japanese colleagues don't like it. But then again, some of my Japanese colleagues do not eat sashimi at all. Yes it is true. Not all Japanese like to eat sashimi!!!!
This meal burnt a big hole in our pocket but we really enjoyed our dinner. No special occasion, just want to eat some good food and splurge on ourselves!
cool ! i was there 2 weeks ago or so - for the first time - trying out a few "black pork " dishes including a ramen . I didnt have space to try the chiffon cakes - i think those love great ! the green tea one for eg .
